I was asked to do Jaime and Dustin’s announcement. This was a very good learning experience for me, because at first they asked me to just design it. I did but it was not what they were looking for. So I worked with them directly to see what kind of design they were wanting and how they wanted it to appear. After we communicated and talked about what they were looking for this is the design I came up with. It was fun, because they made me leave my comfort zone and break the rules of design a little. Cinemagraphs

I have always wanted to try to create a Cinemagraph. I was able to create 3, but 2 out of the 3 were too big for my blog. I loved doing this though. How I created this image was first I selected a subject. This was the most time consuming part of creating my cinemagraph. I did it twice I learned from the first time that I need less movement. Once I captured my video I brought it into Photoshop and resized the image. I then opened the animation too. I selected my loop. Then I found a frame that I wanted to use for the still area of the cinemagraph. I made it a layer, then I added a new mask to the still layer. I painted the mask with black to remove the areas of the still where you want to see movement. I used varying degrees of paint opacity and flow to create a natural appearance. Then I saved for the web as a .gif. Below is the end result. I am in the process of figuring out how to slow down the animation, but have not figured it out yet. Again this was so fun to learn about. Bobble Head Caricature

This was absolutely fun. It is something I have never done before. I created my own bobble head. It is animated portrait of myself.

I first took the image and then brought in Photoshop. I then added some filters to the image to make it look a little more cartoon like. I used the Diffuse filter under Stylize. Then I cut out my head with the Direct Select Tool and the body, they are both on separate. The body I made smaller. Then I titled the head and copied the head layer and then titled it opposite side. Then I pulled up the Animation tool. I created two frames and made the animation last forever. After that I saved for web and devises as a gif. I then uploaded my image to the blog. Movie Poster

This was such a fun project. I first got the idea when I was in Las Vegas for Photoshop world. I saw the beautiful Tiffany & Co. and new that was going to be the backdrop to my poster. The photo was not easy to get as you can tell it was dark. I lowered my shutter speed and propped my camera on a near by newspaper bin because I did not have my tripod. I am so glad it was late at night because the stairway is the coolest part of this image. The other image I took in my house with my own homemade studio. It is a self portrait. I then cut myself out of the background using the Direct Select and the Refine Edge tool. I touched myself up and sharpened the image a little more then I brought that and my Tiffany photo together. I did some more cleaning up and then put in my text. I am so excited with how this turned out and absolutely had fun creating it.

To create the Fine Art Template, I first created a rectangle and then I used the free transform option to copy the rectangle and reposition it to were I wanted it. I then held Shift-Option-Cmd-T to duplicate the rectangle 3 more times. I then used the Align Horizontal Center icon to align the rectangles in the middle of the document. I pulled my logo into Photoshop I lightened it with the blending tool option and I then turned my logo into a brush stroke. I then pulled up the images I wanted into Photoshop and cropped it to 18×12 in @150 ppi and used the levels adjustment layer to bring light and contrast to the image. I copied the image and placed it onto my template and then applied a clipping mask onto the image.

Edge Effects

All of the images I cleaned up in Photoshop using the Levels tool and dodge tool. Now on the Edge Effect on the first image I first added a new layer above the original and then used a white fill on the background. I then moved the layer below the original image to make it now the background. I applied a black mask to the original image and grabbed a brush stroke I liked and revealed parts of the original image back. I played around with the opacity as I did that. On the Landon David Peterson I first created a rectangle marquee and then applied a quick mask to the selection, then I went to filter and applied the Brush Stock-Sprayed Stroke to the mask. I inverted the selection so it would only apply to the quick mask border. I then grab the Fill Bucket and eye dropped the blue and applied it to the border. I increased the Canvas Size as well. The final image I applied a Flexible Vignette Border. I first created a new blank layer. I used the eyedropper tool to select the color I wanted to use then moved it to my background fill. I then grabbed the Rectangular Marquee and drew a box within my image. I then hit delete to add the color to the border and lowered the opacity so you could still see the image through the color. I then added a stroke to the edge to finish it off.

Macro Abstract

I shot these photos in Macro Mode. I then adjusted the Original image using and Adjustment Layer Levels. Then I placed the Texture image on top of the Original and lower the opacity. After I lowered the opacity I applied a mask on the Texture image and removed the texture from the bottle and the hat and then lower the opacity even more on other areas of the background.

My Panoramic shoot. This one was fun, because everything I learned here was new to me. I took this image on a tripod but loosened my screw so that I was able to twist the camera instead of the Tripod. I took six images and placed them in photoshop using Photomerge, it took a while because of the file size. Then once all the photos were merged I used the Content Aware Fill, this then filled in the edges of the photo. It did such a great job that I did not need to crop the photo instead I cleaned it up a little using the spot tool and healing spot tool. Once I completed that I used an Adjustment Layer and applied the Levels tool to the image to increase contrast lighten the photo and darken the midtowns. I then selected the shadows and lightened them. I then resized the image and this was the results. Overall it was a fun, challenging project for me!

Edit: Camera Raw

I took these pictures in the Benson Greenhouse. I wanted to try and get them from a unique angle. These two were my favorite shots, however they still needed to be edited. I edited both photos in Camera Raw. On both of the photos, I found a cactus and then I brought it into Camera Raw I brought up the contrast and brightness. I also sharpened the image and boosted the vibrance. On Maze, I used the paint brush tool to darken the background the add more contrast. On Path, I used the brush tool to lighten the leaves, darken the background and darken the steam. I found it was so much faster to do a lot of these functions in Camera Raw, then Photoshop.
