On Thursday I got the opportunity to once again visit Bannack, Montana! It was so much fun I got to do some amazing light painting and help the Comm 300 students learn about lighting and manual mode. Fashion Shoot

I was able to do a Fashion shoot the beginning of October in Nevada City a little outside of Virgina City. Nevada City is a Ghost town with some really interesting buildings. It was the perfect back drop to this fall fashion shoot. This was a photo excursion with my Comm 316 class under the direction of Caryn Esplin. I learned so much about shooting fashion and added some logos to the last images to show how these can be used as fashion ads. Photography and Edits done by Julie Peterson. I had to overcome the obstacle of A LOT of sunshine on Saturday. It was the only day that would work for all three of us, but unfortunately the sun was bright and harsh. However, I think I was able to work around it by finding some areas that blocked the sun and then metering on the ground verses the sky. My models were really good sports as well. I shot in Manual Priority the whole time to challenge myself, it was a lot more difficult then I thought it was going to be, especially with the constant changing light. The Aperture and Shutter Speed varies throughout each photograph. I cleaned up each photo in Photoshop, using an Adjustment Levels layer, I would do an overlay on a duplicate layer to play with more contrast and lower the opacity on the layer. I soften the skin using the brush tool. I would lighten the eyes with the level tool after selecting them. The stamp tool was used to clean any blemishes. I had a lot of fun and encounter a lot of new challenges.

The End of the Day

All the the images I went in the Photoshop and applied an Adjustment Layer Level on. I also cleaned up the faces a little using the stamp tool and spot healing. The first image I used my file flash because it was a little dark, I love the light it created on him. Local I used natural light and focused on her eyes. In addition to the edits I mentioned before I used the dodge tool to lighten her eyes some more. The End of the Day was a fun photo for me, because it was the first time I used a trigger flash, I love how it turned out.
