Large Group Portraits
By Julie Peterson
This weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the Visual Communication Society. It was a large group which helped me practice posing and directing a large group of individuals. This is often the hardest and most dreaded type of portrait photography. I enjoyed this, but I am not going to lie it was difficult to direct a large group. The challenges I faced was fitting everyone in the frame, and getting everyone to look at the camera. After the Large group there was four sub groups. I then took portraits of each of those sub groups. This was a great learning experience and I feel a lot more confident in taking large group portraits. Photography and Edits done by Julie Peterson. I love your group shots! They’re awesome. I really like the way you edited them. They look so clean and sharp and the coloring of them is amazing. You did an awesome job on posing everyone.
Julie! I love your large group photos! What effect did you do on these? The black and white photo is my favorite. It goes really well with the location. I like how yours is more of a straight on shot. When I did my large group, I didn’t have mine straight on. Great job!
Great job with the large group pictures. I love how well you captured each group. I also love that you made the really big one black and white, it looks very nice. Keep up the good work!
I ralely wish there were more articles like this on the web.
Julie! Great job with all of these! I really like how you edited them. The color, sharpness, and lighting in each of these is great. I think my favorite one is the black and white picture, because it’s different compared to what everyone else did. Nice work!
O M Dang JP. You are just so talented. If I could be as talented as you are some day, that would be amazing. Seriously, these pictures are just awesome. They are so tack sharp and I love how you’ve posed each group. They all seem very candied and real. Excellent work JP! You rock.
