I took a variety of food on plates and then some environmental shots. This weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the Visual Communication Society. It was a large group which helped me practice posing and directing a large group of individuals. This is often the hardest and most dreaded type of portrait photography. I enjoyed this, but I am not going to lie it was difficult to direct a large group. The challenges I faced was fitting everyone in the frame, and getting everyone to look at the camera. After the Large group there was four sub groups. I then took portraits of each of those sub groups. This was a great learning experience and I feel a lot more confident in taking large group portraits. Photography and Edits done by Julie Peterson. Corporate Portraits

I had the opportunity to work take corporate portraits this week. I was able to work with wonderful corporate models in their working environment! I used my continuous light and the lights in the room to bring enough light into the room. This was a good experience trying to use my limited resources and get it done fast. I only allowed myself an hour total for the two Corporate shots. I wanted to do a causal one and a business look. I had the opportunity to shoot Dustin and Jaime’s engagement photos. They were so much fun and so cute together. We are all happy with how they turned out. They were fabulous models and looked great. One thing I learned from this photo shoot is when do your pre-meeting you need to get an idea on what your client is looking for and what they want from you.

I was able to do a Fashion shoot the beginning of October in Nevada City a little outside of Virgina City. Nevada City is a Ghost town with some really interesting buildings. It was the perfect back drop to this fall fashion shoot. This was a photo excursion with my Comm 316 class under the direction of Caryn Esplin. I learned so much about shooting fashion and added some logos to the last images to show how these can be used as fashion ads. Photography and Edits done by Julie Peterson. Water Drops Macro
Water Drops Macro

Over the weekend in Ashton, Idaho I practiced taking macro photos. This set is Water Drops Macro. I used one extension tube size 31MM. Caryn Esplin had a machine that timed the drops with the trigger in my camera. I was able to chose the time and speed I wanted the water to drop. The background is color paper that is reflecting into the water from the external flash. I also experimented and added food coloring to the water to get the read water drops. I brought the images into bridge for a little color enhancing. This is what I love about macro they come out of the camera print ready. Photography and Edits done by Julie Peterson. Still Life Macro

Over the weekend in Ashton, Idaho I practiced taking macro photos. This set is Still Life Macro. I used one extension tube size 31MM. I had Caryn Esplin’s Mom’s jewelry that she allowed me to use. I arrange them and set up my composition for each shot. I used my continuous light with a purple filter to get the glint of purple in each image.
