Contest Entry

Posted by on Jul 5, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

I submitted two photos into the Photographic Society contest.  The first image I lowered my shutter to 1/200 sec speed and shot with a smaller aperture, so that I could get the details in the sky.  I had to turn on my fill flash so that I would light up his face.  I actually had to increase my fill flash so that it was +0.75.  I then brought the photo into Photoshop and adjusted using a levels adjustment layer.  I used the dodge tool to lighten the shadows on his face.  The second image I thought the ceiling falling apart was so beautiful (I know way weird, but that is art) and i wanted...

Title: Light Painting (24×36) Date: 6-11-2011, 8:43 PM Location: Ashton, Id Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T1i; tripod Settings: F-Stop: 10; Shutter Speed: 10 sec; Focal Length: 21.0 mm Edits: I pulled this photo into Photoshop and added a Levels Adjustment Layer to it. That brought out more contrast and lightened the lights on the barn and tracker more. I then set up the image size to 24×36. I found out that when I went to put my guides in for the 2-inch wrap around, part of the barn was cut off. So I cropped the image down to 20×32 so I could choose exactly what I wanted to display...

Fine Art Template

Posted by on Jun 13, 2011 in Blog, Borders, Photoshop | 0 comments

To create the Fine Art Template, I first created a rectangle and then I used the free transform option to copy the rectangle and reposition it to were I wanted it. I then held Shift-Option-Cmd-T to duplicate the rectangle 3 more times. I then used the Align Horizontal Center icon to align the rectangles in the middle of the document. I pulled my logo into Photoshop I lightened it with the blending tool option and I then turned my logo into a brush stroke. I then pulled up the images I wanted into Photoshop and cropped it to 18×12 in @150 ppi and used the levels adjustment layer to...

Night & Light

Posted by on Jun 13, 2011 in Blog, Night and Light | 0 comments

Light Painting is so much fun! My favorite was the light sketching assignment. The first two pictures are for my grade, the other two were for fun, because I did not do the light sketching, clearly since I am in the pictures. How I achieved these first photos was, I left the shutter open 15-30 seconds (some vary but mostly 30 sec). I lowered my aperture and then set the self timer to 30 seconds. I then ran with a flash light and traced around Brandon real fast. And drew on the ground or the walls with the flash light as well. The only edits I did in all my photos was a levels adjustment layer...

Edge Effects

Posted by on Jun 6, 2011 in Blog, Borders, Photoshop | 2 comments

All of the images I cleaned up in Photoshop using the Levels tool and dodge tool. Now on the Edge Effect on the first image I first added a new layer above the original and then used a white fill on the background. I then moved the layer below the original image to make it now the background. I applied a black mask to the original image and grabbed a brush stroke I liked and revealed parts of the original image back. I played around with the opacity as I did that. On the Landon David Peterson I first created a rectangle marquee and then applied a quick mask to the selection, then I went...
